Cooking Up Change – Snapchef

When the COVID-19 outbreak occurred, the hospitality and food service industries experienced a severe decline in business. In response, Snapchef focused its strengths and resources as a business and community partner to create opportunities for its employees, while also contributing to local food service solutions.

The Snapchef Foundation, recognized for its transformative community culinary training model, stepped up to serve its community by partnering with the City of Providence to assist in local food relief efforts. By transforming its Providence training kitchen into a fully functional production kitchen, Snapchef was able to provide over 700 nutritious meals per day, five days a week, for families and residents in need, with a total of 25,000+ meals served in the City of Providence since April. The Snapchef Foundation site page featured each week’s diverse menu as well as heating instruction resources for consumer education and use. Snapchef also teamed up with local community organizations and generous donors to help provide fresh, local produce and ingredients in its daily meals from companies across Rhode Island.

The Snapchef Foundation is dedicated to positive social impact in the regions in which Snapchef operates by providing workforce development, community building, and sustenance to the community’s most vulnerable. Snapchef continues to expand its community service role with a sustainable model that is achieved through the support of public and private partnerships, along with donation and funding resources.
